What are Oral Lesions?
An oral lesion is any abnormal spot, sore or growth found on the lips, tongue, gums or inside the mouth. Most are harmless, caused by things like minor injury, canker sores or irritation, but some can signal an underlying condition that’s worth a closer look.
Small sores that heal within one to two weeks are typically nothing to worry about, but you should seek medical attention for any lesion that lingers longer than two weeks, keeps recurring or changes in size, color or texture.
